Lawson Conner Launches New Asia Hub In Singapore
September 17, 2016 - Firm News
The London based investment manager platform and outsourced compliance specialist firm is pleased to announce the official opening of its Singapore office.
The Managing Director and Co-Founder of Lawson Conner, Jurgen Gebhard commented. “Our new office in Singapore is a natural and important expansion step for us to extend our award winning offering to financial services firms wanting to operate in emerging markets whilst seeking the highest standards of regulatory solutions covering the UK, Europe the USA and Asia out of one hand. Asian markets have seen a lot of growth with Asian Indices ex Japan having increased 20-25% since beginning of 2016 vs European markets increasing by only 8-10%. At the same time, Singapore has become a global gateway to Asian markets and we are responding to the strong demand from existing clients based in that region. Our offering is relevant for investment managers, hedge funds and private equity managers as well as wealth managers who would typically be looking for Lawson Conner to provide local outsourced compliance services or utilise Lawson Conner’s manager platforms to accelerate their fund launch and to access other global investors.
“We are relocating a team of people from our London office in addition to hiring a team of local compliance experts.” According to Gebhard, alternative investment funds in Asia are increasingly looking to raise funds from the US and European allocators, while European institutional investors are looking to diversify to Asian based fund managers for additional yield. “Regulation is a key consideration for fund allocators, especially for initial investments in a new region. Being able to invest through an investment manager platform with well established and trusted regulatory standards will bridge the gap between the regions,” explains Gebhard.
